What I’m doing at Relevance AI

I operate on the front lines (customer facing) at Relevance AI as a Business Development Representative. My mission is simple, to have conversations with business stakeholders, make them aware that this technology exists and guide them to success.

My career journey to Relevance AI

My journey here was not a straight line but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I took a break from studying after I finished high-school where I worked as a ‘lifty’ on ski slopes (amongst various other roles) and travelled overseas. 

One of my first sales roles was in a call centre selling funeral insurance. Using an automatic dialer, I was making up to 400 calls a day. Whilst the volume was large and the topic was… deadly serious, it was a great experience and I learnt a bunch of skills.I decided to go to University, where I completed a double degree (Bachelor of Science in IT and Business Marketing at UTS).

After studying I worked as a web developer for ActivateUTS (the university union) and University of Technology Sydney.I went to live in London, where I worked with an amazing media start up called Newsflare.

As an extrovert, I realised I needed to get back into sales, so I worked with a marketing agency called Acquisition Studio during the Covid period before finding my passion with Relevance AI.

What I’m most excited about working at Relevance AI

I’m really proud and confident that I get to introduce people to Relevance AI knowing and seeing first hand, the magic the engineers perform behind the curtains to make this product so innovative.

I have the privilege of seeing eyes light up when they have their light bulb moment in meetings while knowing that we have a direct solution to one of the biggest problems in the tech industry. 

What my average day at Relevance AI looks like

When I get to the office, I have a catch up chat with my team, check my emails and respond to as many people as I can. I don’t wake up and think “I have to sell today” rather “I get to have conversations with amazing people across various industries and roles and learn about them”. 

From my experience, people get really excited when they understand what the platform can do, and it motivates me to pick up the phone and help more people. 

What I do outside of work

I am very passionate about electronic music and art. When I am not at work, you can find me DJing and assisting with the planning and organization of some of Australia’s best underground electronic music festivals and events.
